Debbie Thornton, owner and designer, is a 35 year artist and artisan.
She is a water colorist, an accomplished rug hooker and designer, and she
excels at silk-screen work, often incorporating it into custom quilts.
Upon semi-retirement from running her national consulting firm, she turned to
her life-long love of pearls, gemstones and jewelry and studied metalsmithing at
Silvermine
Guild
Art
Center
and
Brookfield
Craft
Center
, both in
Connecticut
. She
has also studied extensively with the masters of Classical goldsmithing and
enameling at the
Jewelry Arts Institute
in New York City; with
the master of stone setting, Blaine Lewis, at his New Approach
|
|
School
for
Jewelers in Virginia; and ,with the master of wax work, Kate Wolf, at her Wolf
Designs studio in Maine.
Jewelry
is the medium which permits Debbie the greatest design challenges and provides
the most satisfaction upon completion of each piece.
There is a deep joy in creating and hand-making each piece, whether
it’s a hand-painted cloisonné enamel to which she’s added many delicate
layers of color, a 22k gold necklace fabricated after selecting and setting the
perfect palette of complementary jewels, or, designing, color matching and
stringing a strand of pearls.
Debbie
welcomes the challenge of custom commissions.
Please call or email to arrange a consultation to discuss your wishes.
